Black harvest
Features a joint business venture between Joe Leahy, a wealthy mixed-race coffee plantation owner, and the Ganiga, an aboriginal tribe in Papua New Guinea. When world coffee prices collapse the workers' wages are drastically reduced and this leads to tribal warfare.

First contact
Recounts the discovery of a flourishing native population in the interior highlands of New Guinea in 1930 in what had been thought to be an uninhabited area. Inhabitants of the region and surviving members of the Leahy brothers' gold prospecting party recount their astonishment at this unforeseen meeting. Includes still photographs taken by a member of the expedition and contemporary footage of the island's terrain.
DVD 5613
Papa bilong Chimbu
Documentary on Father John Nilles, the great-uncle of the filmmaker, who in 1937 as a young missionary arrived in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. He stayed over the next 54 years, living with the people of Chimbu as a priest, but also as an anthropologist, linguist, politician, and clan leader. Through interviews with those who knew him, the filmmaker reveals the new family Nilles developed, and offers insight into the complexity of cultural exchange.
